Colleges In/Near Large Cities

stated in or somewhat near. i dont live on the east coast. yet even i know cornell is not in new york city. however even an hour or two away could be considered near. no need to attack my list by argueing schools are more than this amount away.

Uh, Cornell is about a 4 hour drive from NYC. If you still consider that to be "near" a big city, then almost every school in the country can be considered to be "near" some big city. For example, Dartmouth, which is clearly the most rural and inaccessible of all of the Ivies, is still only a 2 hour drive from Boston. Hence, is Cornell is "near" NYC, then Dartmouth is clearly "very near" Boston.

Look, this is not an "attack". I'm simply providing information. I think that by any reasonable standard, no matter how you choose to define "near", Cornell cannot be considered to be near NYC.

Here are the 20 largest cities in the US (according to infoplease.com) listed alongside of colleges that are 50 miles or less from them (according to collegeboard.com). They are sorted by percent admitted (from lowest to highest). Feel free to add to this list if I've missed any...

i was thinking OP meant in city or metro area. if travel time is in hours, not close enough to visit often. How about we define near as close enough to visit on a weekday. I love this thread by the way

Near Boston:

Eastern Nazarene College (less than 2 miles from city line, 6 miles from downtown).
