How much does tuition cost there? Is it hard to get accepted as an international student? I’m a senior in high school in the US. What’s the educational system like there? Also, would you recommend studying there?thanks!
Canadian schools are traditionally less expensive than many full cost American universities. This varies by school of course. The top schools in Canada are easier to get into than the top schools in America, but they expect you to work your butt off while you are there and there is less institutional support than universities in America (ie. you are expected to be more independent)
I’m from NZ, i think the fees are quite a lot higher for international students. It’s not hard to get accepted as an international student and our system runs on 3 trimesters. Most students study the first and second trimester and take off the third trimester since that is our summer. It’s pretty cool to study here, if you want a big social life though head down to Otago university but you’ll have to deal with the cold.
Just for clarity, NZ and the UK and several other countries have two tiers of fees. Fees for internationals are as @study2016 stated much higher for internationals. However, they are still likely to be cheaper than US. So for most degrees, a NZ domestic student will pay say 6-7000 NZ dollars (say USD$ 4000-4500), whereas an international might be looking at fees of say NZD$32000 (roughly USD$ 21000) which is as @study2016 puts it “quite a lot higher” but may still be cheaper than many American institutions. Do note that fees also vary per course/degree. If you are studying something expensive to teach, such as medicine, then you will pay more than if you were studying say English literature.
and what about scholarship in NZ? can international student win a shcolarship there?
