colleges in NY (EE or CE)

im looking for some colleges in NY State for either electrical or computer engineering, maybe microelctrical engineering. anyone have some suggestions on those majors? anyways, i live in rochester, ny and have already visited RIT which amazed me andim visiting UoR in a few hours... UoR doesnt have CE tho so if i did go there it would most likely be for EE. do you guys recommend any other colleged in NY? maybe even in Pennsylvania?

Consider:

NY:
Cornell
RPI
Stony Brook

NJ: Rutgers
PA: CMU, Penn State, UPitt

University at Buffalo.
Union College

what about columbia and cooper union

thx guys, ill check those out. for pen, how about UPENN and Bucknell?

ripken,

You haven't posted your stats so it's a little hard to suggest schools.

I am also from Rochester and my son, who applied for electrical/computer engineering, was accepted at Rensselaer, Worcester Polytech, RIT, Northeastern, Purdue, Case Western, Ohio University in Athens, Univ of Pittsburgh and Rose Hulman. He is still deciding where to attend.

You might consult the ABET web site - they are the accreditation body for engineering. You can search by major and state for accredited programs.

We also visited Bucknell (not my son's scene), Penn State (too big), Univ Michigan (I don't know...) and probably some others that I'm forgetting.

So, it might help if you post your stats, and think about what you're looking for in a campus (big, small, urban, rural, whatever) and if you have financial restrictions. For instance we don't qualify for much financial aid so he was looking for merit aid.

Good luck!!!

well i have like a 90 average at McQuaid, which you should know is a very hard school. im taking 3 APs this year and 2-3 next year. ~1300 SAT for my 1st time, hoping to get that up the next time. the financial restriction will depend on how much financial aid/merit i can get from these different colleges. i dont want a big college.
