Colleges in Philly area

Hello all, I'm an American senior living overseas and planning to return to the U.S. for university. I would prefer to go somewhere in the Philly area, but I have not decided which schools to apply to yet. I do know I'll apply for Penn and Penn State (yes, I know the latter is outside of Philly), but there are other good schools in the area. What other schools would you all recommend?

For the record, history is my strongest subject, but economics, journalism (in sports), and other social studies interest me as well, so science/technology-oriented schools are probably not for me.

Off the top of my head - Drexel, Arcadia, and Temple are all right in the city/area

Villaova and Ursinus are near Philadelphia also. Rutgers is in New Jersey, but still very close to Philly. Penn State has a couple branch campuses right in the Philly area also.

Haverford and Swathmore

Saint Joseph’s University is located in a Philly suburb, so it’s much safer than a college like Temple.

there are a lot of colleges reasonably close to Philly, like Lehigh, Lafayette, and Franklin & Marshall.

As others have said: Villanova, Haverford, Swarthmore, Drexel, Temple, Lehigh, Bucknell, St Joes, La Salle, West Chester, University of Delaware (only like .5 hr away), and many more that are less prestigious

Muhlenberg is not too far away. Princeton also.

How selective of a school are you looking for? What are your SAT/ACT scores? Do you prefer urban or suburban or rural? How large of a school do you prefer?
