colleges look at weighted or unweighted GPA?

My weighted is like 4.3, and unweighted is like 3.93

which one will they look at?

Also, my class rank for unweighted is top 15%, while weighted its top 2% or so.

It depends on the school. I know Michigan looks only at your unweighed GPA (10th and 11th grades only). As for class rank, whatever official class ranking you have is the one most universities will use.

If your transcript shows both, they will prob look at both, however unweighted is prob more impt. b/c the weighted scale varies from school to school.

Alexandre, I have a question for you. Your profile states that you are 31 and located in Dubai. What makes you so interested in CC, and why are you wasting quality hours for no personal benefit?(Not in a sarcastic or mean tone, just wondering)

Thanks

Perhaps Alexandre doesn't need personal benefit, some people do not need incentive to help others out(i.e. frantic incoming college undergrads).

how about that he is a caring and compassionate person who wants to give sincere advice to ppl as they make one of the most important decisions of their life.

Confidential, as sad as this may sound, this is my hobby! LOL I have been doing this in may spare time for the last 10 or so years...long before CC even existed. There are many others here like me. Parents and single adults who really and genuinely care about students and want to share their experiences to help those students in whatever way they can.

3.93 is top 15%? My goodness. I'm 3.66 and I'm in around the same percentile at my school, which sent 7 kids to Yale last year

i think they look at both
because it would be unfair to the student who took harder classes who got an A vs a student took a easy class who got an A also

yeah, talk about inflated grade.

we don't weight honors classes, and some honor classes are harder than some AP classes. and some AP classes are easier than regular classes.

then you have your keyboarding, fashion design, outdoor sports classes which is almost a guarnteed A if you are present in class.
