I felt like Columbia and UChicago were basically the exact same school. The student body at UChicago is a bit nerdier, and the campus is much bigger (imo also just plain better), but the academic programs seem very similar.
@puzzled123 thanks for the information. I’ll have to make a point to visiting Columbia. Also I would prefer a less nerdy environment so that will come into play as well.
@dylan197 the architecture was very modern, with sleek glass walls and modern-looking study rooms. I didn’t see much green on campus. The dorms make you feel like you are a tenant in a big city, and some have access to a flat roof overlooking DC.
Well, there is obviously some older architecture, but I think that if you are going to study at McDonough, it’s extremely modern-looking.
@PartyNextDoor Wow McDonough does look very sleek!
In some ways this is a very hard question you pose as U Chicago cuts quite a specific profile. I really don’t know of a school that is like it. Perhaps Columbia? I’m keying off of being in a city with a core curriculum and an intellectual heft. But the Col campus is not nearly as nice as U of C. Do not worry about the business curriculum. The U of C degree is highly regarded for graduate school.
swarthmore = smaller uchicago with less preprofessionalism focus
