Hello, I’ve always wanted to attend Sweet Briar but know with that closing I’m not really sure what to do. I live in northern VA and want to be far enough from home to learn independence but not too far away as to not be able to drive home on the weekend for a family dinner or something. This might sounds really superficial but I would like it if the school was aesthetically appealing too. I love the outdoors and I’ve always wanted to learn horseback riding which are two of the things that attracted me to Sweet Briar. I have to say, I’m pretty preppy. I love Ralph Polo and J. Crew and Vineyard Vines so I want to go somewhere that I wont be scoffed at and maybe meet other people who share interests not just in clothing but having good manners and ballroom dancing and I know that might seem stupid but idk. Its just how I am. I want to go to a smaller, tight-knit school. Obviously I like all women schools (that aren’t very far from a co-ed school since I am still interested in dating) but I wouldn’t necessarily mind going to a co-ed school either. I also love sailing and all things nautical (its my dream to own my own yacht) so maybe something near the water? I was looking at some schools in Maryland but I couldn’t really find any that I loved. I’m also thinking I’ll apply to Georgetown but I’m not completely sure yet. Oh and I know I don’t really want to apply to Hollins just because thats not really what I’m looking for.
Thanks so much
I don’t know what your stats are like, but I’d definitely take a look at Washington and Lee. If you’re willing to go a littler farther, Agnes Scott is a nice women’s college in Georgia. Elon University, Wake Forest, University of Richmond, and Sewanee are other options, too.
