All colleges are looking for applicants that would be a good "fit" for their schools. I have a few essay ideas, and they would all show a different aspect of my personality. I hear that essays should be tailored to specific schools (especially for supplements) - how do I know the different "styles" of different schools so I know which of my essays would be the strongest representation of me, at that school?
Tell me if I'm mistaken about this notion - it's something I heard recently, and am now fretting about

Yes, your notion does have an element of truth to it, but…
How are you choosing your schools? Rather than trying to contort yourself to try to fit the school, you should look for schools that ARE a food fit for you.

Sorry, I meant a good fit.

All the schools on my list are schools I can see myself at. They’re not too dissimilar (all liberal arts or liberal arts-style in that you can take electives, classes not in your major, etc) and have the clubs/extracurriculars I want. But, for example, uChicago is considered … quirkier, I guess? I’m not actually sure.

I think that alot of liberal arts colleges all (to some degree) want diversity at thi=eir college, not nessesarily racial or religious diversity but they want different perspectives. So which ever trait you focus on, just make sure that it shows how are different from other applicants.

I think, the college videos on youtube (if there are any) can give you a feel of the college “style”. Sometimes there are videos where admissions officers talk about the kind of students at their college/uni.
