You mean, A-'s and A's would be treated equally, as well as B+'s, B's, and B-'s?

That'd be odd, considering the difference between a B+ and a B- is HUGE.

yeah, but the difference between an A and and A- can be a 92.4 and a 92.5 (which rounds to a 93)-- so sometimes the differences are in fact negligible

my school doesn't use +s/-s, we do it how u said in ur original post. I've heard that alot of schools use whatever scale u give them, and add or subtract weight.

At my school, an A+ is treated the same as an A-

well i just want to know what colleges do...

because in that "what colleges do not count freshman gpa", someone posted that university of micigan disregrads +s/-s...also search on here, people have said stanford also disregards it but i went to the stanford website and there was no official mention of it.

yeah my transcript won't show A- or B+'s, they only show the solid grade (A or B), which sucks because a few of my classes that I got B's in were B+'s and now I'll be receiving the same credit as someone else who got a B-.

^mines opposite, ive had like 4 A-s that should be As if it was the no +s/-s, only gotten 1 B+, so clearly it would be at a advantage to me...

so anyone know any colleges? i mean it probalby wont make a difference (it will be like only .07 difference), but i just want to make sure.

The only college i know is that MIT doesnt (i asked an admissions guy), but MIT factors in freshman grades so it actually doesnt matter

just worried about the people that do not factor freshman grades/count +s/-s because i did pretty bad 1st semester sophomore year (0.2 lower than any other semester)

Well this doesn't really answer your quesion, but I read an article by a former Oberlin ad com that electives (PE, Art - unless you've devoted a lot of time to it) are usually taken out of your GPA when they recalculate it.

This way of calculating gpa SCREWS me. My grading scale:
A 94-100
B+ 90-93
B 84-89
C+ 80-83
C 74-79
etc.
maybe a reason i got deferred from mich?

whoa, that kind of grading would definitely screw up my gpa, too. But all schools send a profile that describes the way grades are done at that particular school.

@ jcrew - holy crap, your school must be pretty hardcore!

IDK - I find it unfair that an 89 (which I had in a lot of classes) and a 79.5 would be treated the same way. On the other hand, I have a LOT of 93's (which were A-'s at my school for my freshman-sophomore years), that would now count as A's lol.

This is currently an issue in our county. A group is trying to get the 6 pt grading scale changed because many colleges have admitted that they do NOT recompute gpa's for admission and merit scholarships.

"""FAIRGRADE's extensive research shows that many out-of-state colleges and universities do not know FCPS' grading policy nuances, nor do they necessarily make adjustments to FCPS student's GPAs for admissions' decisions. """
