Colleges that don't require foreign language or only require one year?

Hello.

I think I have successfully convinced my friend to take a year of language his senior year to help him get into college, because I know some schools only require one year. One of those schools I'm looking at, Alabama, you only need one year and he says he wouldn't mind going there. I know other schools like LSU will waive requirements if you meet a certain standard standard like SAT/ACT or taking other units.

Any other suggestions or is there a list?

Oh and he is a pretty good student (though we go to different high schools so I don't know that much). But I think he has around a 3.2-3.3 GPA, and he's taking the SAt or ACT in June so hopefully he can do decent on that.

Thanks

While I’m not personally an expert on the matter, this thread might help:

Good luck!

If he doesn’t like studying foreign languages, you might also want to check which schools have no language distribution requirements to graduate. A lot of them require either language competency or a certain score on a foreign language SAT II.

Thanks so far.

His high school does not require foreign language to graduate and he took a quarter of a language then dropped the class (I think he had an A though). He is kinda smart, he’s just pretty lazy.
So I don’t think he could do well on a SAT II language test.

Any schools come to mind with only one year required? I know it is kind of a weird question, and he already has a list of schools that don’t require any language, but he would like to add a couple more schools to his list.

Thanks
