Hi. I am an incoming high school senior looking for help in my college search. Here are my college criteria:

Absolute Must:

Division 2 or 3 school in basketball (preferably D3)
good exercise science or kinesiology or exercise physiology major/program or something similar
good business program
good/great academic school

Prefered:

Great dorms and great food
near (within 1.5 hrs or so) a city (50,000 +)
good facilities
usually sunny weather
Midwest or East
nice campus
good community ("college town") - I know that's hard with D3

I have a 4.0 GPA, #1 Class Rank, 35 ACT, and decent ECs.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. If you need/want more info just let me know.

@dlthf1026 I will certainly apply for financial aid to see if I get any. My family would like to pay about 20 grand a year, but they say they will go up if needed (if I really like a more expensive school).

I should also be able to get a decent amount from local scholarships for my freshman year. If I go to school anywhere in WI (my home state), I will receive an additional $2,250 for each of 4 years for being top of class.

@csdad Only the D3 college a few miles down the road. I will be able to play college ball though. Once coaches see stats and tape and talk to my coach, I’ll be okay.

@barrk123 Trinity University is D3 and has business, but I only see sport management.

…be careful with this even at the DIII level. Some LAC’s are under pressure from their admission offices to not dissuade any students who show interest. As a result they over recruit & many students end up not playing. If playing is one of your most important criteria, gauge how much interest the coach shows in you, as opposed to how much you show them.

@csdad Okay thank you for the advice. I feel I will be able to play not necessarily because of all-around playing ability, but because I “specialize” in one area: shooting. Wow this has turned into a bball convo haha.

Any ideas on a school that meets all 3 of those must-have criteria I listed at the start of the thread? Thanks

A quick loading of some of your criteria produces a large list of possibilities. Try it out and then maybe post some of your ideas here for discussion.
