colleges that have risen, fell, and those poised to do the same

I LOVE THESE THREADS!

colleges that have recently risen to relevence:

Indiana
Penn state
delaware
northeastern

many others that i am interested to ehar from you guys

colleges that have fallen from grace:

tulane- a real shame since this was caused by a natural disaster, but i do feel they will return to their former glory eventually

BU
The ivy league- this is relative of course, as they are all still tip top notch schools, but many peaople have started looking beyond the ivy league in recent years

again, i am eager to hear from you guys on this matter

schools that are poised to gain esteem:

hofstra- they are moving up in rank and starting to gain more attention, many more people will probably apply there due to the presidential debate that broguht them publicity, i think this is an exciting time to be involved with hofstra, many of you probably have no idea what i'm talking about though.

The SUNY system- we can only hope, right?

pittsburgh- they are pouring money into honors programs, merit scholarships, direct undergrad- grad tracks in order to attract more competitive students, this will raise their average SAT and GPA and make them more competitive

MORE PLEASE!

Bump!!!

Miami U (OH) is going downhill fast.

Agree with you on Pitt, also see OSU rising along with the U of Cincinnati for the state of Ohio public schools.

As for privates, I see nothing but up for the University of Dayton and Hiram College.

Hofstra is likely to rise in prominence only when they get their medical school, associated with LIJ, off the ground and reputable. But even then, I think that Hofstra is a long way from being able to contend with pretty much every other school you’re mentioning except the SUNY system as a whole.

hofstrais already a good school that doesnt ahve much of a rep yet. But I do i see a bright future for hofstra. Their business school busted into the top 100 this year and they are getti ng more widespread acclaim, as opposed to the ocal school they used to be. I can see them being a lot like duke 25-30 years down the line with a similar success story also.
