Hi! I’m searching for colleges that offer English majors with concentrations in film studies. I’ve found colleges that offer the English major and the film studies minor as well as colleges that offer both the English major and the film studies major. But I’d specifically like schools with the concentration in the major.
So far, I’ve found that several very selective schools offer it, but I would like to veer away from extremely selective but would still like some selectivity.
Ones that have had the concentration within the major that I’ve seen so far are Case Western, University of Rochester, Barnard (a little more selective), and Pitt.
I won’t be able to offer a specific answer to your question. I don’t know of an English program with film studies included, and often think of film studies classes as being most often in separate or other departments. Just curious, why are you interested in that specific set up, instead of getting the English major with a minor or double major in film studies? Also, often colleges (but not every one) love for students to create interdisciplinary major. So maybe that would also be an option that could expand your list of colleges. You could create an interdisciplinary major that incorporates the English and film studies classes on whatever specific area interests you. Good luck!
