I've heard that schools like colgate will reject outright applicants with bad GPA, even when they have really good SAT score. Not sure if that's true or just a myth, but my GPA is not so good and I need a list of schools that put a HEAVY emphasis on GPA in the admission process. Just so I know which place to stay away from. Thanks a lot for your advice. : )

Your GPA is basically a summary of how you did in high school. Do you think a college would accept someone just because they did well on a 4 hour exam?
Your GPA basically defines how well you did in the FOUR YEARS of high school that you went through. It shows what kind of grades you are capable of getting, and in what level of classes (AP’s, honors, etc.) It makes more than just “sense” that colleges place more emphasis on GPAs.

I don’t think any college outright rejects anyone. If someone with a high SAT score and low GPA gets rejected, i doubt it was outright. It was most likely because of their low gpa or lack of EC’s.

There are no schools that place MORE emphasis on tests, all colleges weigh both test scores and GPA very heavily in the admissions process, so just apply to where you want.

You can try going to the College Board website and using the College Matchmaker program to get a list of school where they accept students with GPA’s similar to yours.

Do you have any explanation for your grades or were the lower grades in one particular semester or grade. Perhaps you or your GC could write an explanation for your grades if there is one.

Also, how big a gap do you have between yours grades and your SAT? A big gap would probably raise more concerns.

It’s good that you are being realistic about this.

I think transcript is the most important thing most colleges considered for admissions. Everything else is supplement information. Standardized tests are a way to confirm your transcripts. So a major discrepency any way is a red flag and need explanation.
