This year I am going to take some classes at a community college in my interest areas and so will be opting out of math, science, and foreign language at my high school. My mom looked on Princeton's website and it said I needed those classes in order to apply. I'm not going to apply there anyway, but I'm just wondering if there many schools that fall into this category. (Any "Top Twenty" school excluded, as I cannot got there for financial reasons). Aslo, if it would significantly hurt my chances of getting into a school. Thanks!

To position yourself for admissions at a wide assortment of colleges most students take at least 4 years english, 4 years math, and at least 3 years of foreign language. You may later choose to apply for scholarships or be eligible for FA at these financially out of reach schools so you can’t cross off any school at this time. What classes are you going to take at CC?

Intro to Theater and Creative Writing first semester. Not sure for second. So far I have taken three years of Spanish, Geometry, Algebra II and Pre-Calc, and Bio, Chemistry, and Analytical Science

Be prudent and sign up for Calc or AP Stats to finish math,Physics, or AP Bio, AP Chem to finish science, and English. Then go to community college to take the classes you mentioned above. It’s all good. That is if your hs will let you have a short schedule.

Wish I could but my school is tiny and it wouldn’t work. If I go to college I cannot take math/science. My guidance counselor said it would be ok, but I’m beginning to wonder. My intended major is English.

Do you plan to apply to in state universities? For example, to be eligible for UCs you are recommended have the 4-4-3. IMHO, your short term goal is to apply to the best colleges that “fit” you. Your application will be more complete with senior math and science. Can course you mentioned above be taken as an evening class or next January when college applications are completed?
