Colleges that you seriously considered but then decided against

I considered a bunch of private schools… USC, Ohio Wesleyan, University of the Pacific, Duquesne (not sure if I’m even spelling that right, haha), and some others, but then opted against applying to all of them. It was mainly because I have a pretty sub-par GPA so I wouldn’t get much aid, hence making the cost ridiculously expensive. I’ve always known though that a large public school is probably the right place for me, so as of now, I have no qualms with my decision.

Upenn-- too many undergraduates and didn’t like the feel of the school.

Back when I did all this, I considered Hamilton, Colgate, but didn’t apply to either of them, mainly due to location. I did apply to Hofstra, Cornell, Syracuse, and the Cooper Union, amongst others. CU, Cornell, and Syracuse I didn’t go to, due to location. Hofstra has a pretty campus, but as someone said about another school, felt very “Stepford-y” to me, and the area around the college is horrible Long Island urbanish suburb. Ick.

I’d never been to these areas before I applied, and once I saw them, I realized they weren’t a fit for me, and that I wanted nothing whatsoever to do with New York State, or in particular NYC metro.

Went to college in Massachusetts cow country. Very happy.

Of course, where do I live now? NY.
