I am looking for a graduate school near the ocean (beach) and I am hoping for some suggestions. For those who are looking for the same but at the undergraduate level I hope users would add some school for them also. For the most part the school should be within walking distance of the beach or a 30 min bike ride.

These are the school I've found so far.

UC San Diego
UC Santa Barbara
UC Santa Cruz
U. of Hawaii
Eckerd College
U. of North Carolina--Wilmington
SUNY Stony Brook

Loyola Marymount University… Beautiful campus.
University of San Diego - gorgeous
If you are fairly athletic, University of California at Irvine - pushing it with the distance, but it’s a great campus that is very close to some of the best beaches in Southern California

Pepperdine! One of the schools I am looking at. Very pretty. There are a few on the East coast, yet many of them are on bays rather than the ocean. So the majority of colleges you will find on the ocean are at California.

Soka University of America (<—Gorgeous school)
Monmouth University

BTW for anyone planning on building a university, please build one on North Carolina’s beautiful coast…it really needs one (Wilmington doesn’t count)…

Do you specifically want an ocean or just the beach? Because schools like Northwestern and University of Chicago are like 10 minutes from beaches on Lake Michigan, same as an ocean beach only the water is salt free. Of course if you want an ocean, then just ignore this.

Any college in New York City would be on this list then, as you can ride your bike to Jersey or Long Island easily (or take your bike on the subway/train to get there).

Stanford is not especially far: 30 minute (or less) drive up to Skyline and a 30 minute bike ride to the Northern California coast. And if you’re happy with a view of the ocean, then a great bike ride starting not too far from campus up to Skyline.
