Colleges/Universities with maker spaces / fab labs?

I was looking into Case Western and the think[box] was very intriguing. After looking around, most of the universities with these types of facilities seem to only allow engineering students in. Are there other colleges/universities with similar facilities that are open-access for all students?

You might look at Lehigh. They acquired a former corporate R&D complex next to the university (now rebranded as the “Mountaintop Campus”) and have turned it into a space for student projects. I believe it’s open to students from all three schools (engineering, business, arts & sciences). Lehigh is a relatively small school and there is a lot of cross-disciplinary activity between the colleges.

the deason innovation gym here at smu is open to anyone who does the safety training course. http://www.thedig.org/about/

Columbia has one – https://make.columbia.edu/

Wesleyan has a machine shop in the science center that is open to all students; there is also a 3-D printer that is likewise available for student use.

Every reasonably good engineering college with have labs, incubators, etc. Nano fabs are more rare because they are so expensive.

Most of these labs are open to all students. Some do require that you take a safety class or a design/manufacturing laboratory (which is usually only taken by engineering students), before you can get full access to all of the tools but that’s not for using a 3-D printer.

We just came from a tour of RPI yesterday, and they have lots of those facilities. I can’t imagine that they are only for engineering majors, as even their “liberal arts” majors are tech related.
