Colleges want Subject Tests in DIFFERENT AREAS? (+other stuff)

Hi.

***********QUESTION 1:

When colleges ask for SAT Subject Tests in different areas, do they mean:

No two can be in science, or no two can be in foreign language

One can’t submit Math I and Math II (only applying to the math subject tests)

One can’t submit two scores from the same subject test.

***********QUESTION 2:

Should I take:

More SAT Subject Tests

The ACT

More AP Tests

Basically, I plan to submit Chemistry (730), Physics (???), and Math II (???). I did take Bio as a freshman without studying (640) but got a 5 on the AP. I plan to take the Physics B AP, are there others that don’t require big studying like Literature (even for the Subject Test)?

Thanks in advance!

bumpppppppppppppppp

Are you planning to study engineering? If so they generally want Math plus physics or chemistry. If not engineering then two different seems pretty broad but I wouldn’t do both math tests. I would do what you are good at and can score well on. Lit is generally considered one of the more difficult of the SAT II’s unless you have scored really high on the CR part of the SAT. If you don’t mind posting the name of the college you are looking at we could try to interpret their particular requirements for you.

“Different areas”: That means all three of your suggestions. The subject areas are : Math, Science, Foreign Language, English, History/Social Sciences. Take one test from two different ones of these subject areas.

Even if a school does not require that the SAT IIs be in different subject areas, taking both Math I and Math II is usually considered as one test. Same for taking a specific test multiple times - it counts as one SAT II; you’d still need another.

Are there any top colleges that require three subject tests in different areas? Which ones require two in different areas? Since I have a science and I’ll do Math II, would it be better (or would I even need) to take Lit. or Spanish, considering the fact that I’ll take Spanish 4H next year (junior).

…it wouldn’t hurt to do both since I can choose which to send :)
