Ok, guys/gals, before I start with the list, I would like if you could help me find a certain college. I have been looking for this college for about an hour on Google to no avail. I had the url for the college but I lost it. I'll know the college if I see it. But here are the details that I remember:

You create your own major and that's the thing that sets the college apart. You meet with the college adviser once a year to solidify your major and track your progress on their campus but after that you go out and study your major wherever that may be. (africa, korea, california, etc.)

Please help me find this college, thanks! sorry for the rushed topic but I have to leave for work now. i'll return later! ^^

Oh my gosh! I just finished work right now. You guys/gals are very close I feel! The college/uni that I’m looking for is similar to Goddard! I almost thought it was Bennington after reading the description of that college on wiki but when I visited the uni’s website then I knew that it wasn’t the one. But you all are getting very close I feel. This driving me crazy!! I am scouring the web for this college’s site like crazy! I don’t think I can go to sleep or eat dinner until I find it!

I do have more details for the site though. After looking at Goddard’s website, I believe that the uni I’m looking for is located in Vermont. (but i’m not entirely sure) Like I said, in my original post, students do NOT reside on the campus. It is a low residency program or something. They only visit there once a year or something like that. That is why Bennington confused me a bit because they have something akin to that but it is not the uni I’m looking for. Like I said, if I see the college’s website then I will immediately recognize it. Please keep the recommendations coming because I am checking the thread every 5 minutes for ideas. I have to find this college’s website and I am so surprised that this is taking so long! :@ angry

I just looked at Marlboro. that’s not the one.

Edit: I vaguely remember reading on their website that they were accredited by an international organization. Something about it being the standard accreditation that schools receive worldwide but not necessarily in the united states. that may help you all out. I’m still looking in google also.

NYU has a division (Gallatin or something like that) for people who wish to design their own majors. Many are already working in the field, but others are not.

Most schools will let you design your own major if they don’t offer something similar. The most unique example I heard of was someone who wanted to major in Jewish Studies, and created an interdisciplinary course list from religion, literature, history, and social science departments, etc.

Others have programs where you can take whatever classes you want to without real regard for a major. I’m in such a program at Baylor University, known as the University Scholars program.

Others still have what’s called an open curriculum, where you can take any courses your want to without concern for “distribution requirements.” The most well-known example of such a college, as far as I am aware, is Brown University.

I FOUND IT!!! GOD!!! I WAS GOING CRAZY!!! I am so so sorry for the all caps but I am just uber-exuberant that I have finally found this website! With further ado, the uni that I was searching for is:

Now, please allow me calm down, gather myself together a bit, and then I can discuss my autodidactic research plans here.

P.S. - Btw, are any of the members here who distribute advice/guidance graduates of the big three HYP and MIT? I have specific questions for those graduates particularly.

I’m still trying to get some info from them before I start my other thread about my plans but I may just post it anyway to get some feedback from all you uni graduates. :p
