Refer to the title. So are there any colleges that only look at sophomore, junior grades, as well as senior first semester? My friend had terrible freshman grades.

I know for certain that the UC’s don’t factor your freshmen year grades into their GPA. I’m sure they still “look” at them, as would most other colleges.

everyone “looks” them but it depends how much weight is brought upon those grades.

University of Michigan doesn’t count freshman year grades.

I’m almost positive Stanford doesn’t factor in freshmen year grades at all.

I heard a rumor about Princeton not counting freshman grades. Can anyone confirm this?

While there are schools that do not include freshmen grades when recalculating GPA, it does not mean that they don’t look at the grades. Most colleges also still look at rank. So whime Princeton doesn’t “count” freshmen year, the vast majority of the unhooked accepted were top of their class.

hmom5: Right, but you could get B’s freshmen year while still ending up top 10%.

Carnegie Mellon said they don’t look at 9th grade grades.

I agree Kameron, but people are mentioning Stanford and Princeton where you need to be at the top of your class, not top 10% if you don’t have a hook.

hmom5: Sure, that’s true. But for Carnegie Mellon, 10% should be fine.

If I go to an elite public school in Illinois, and my freshman grades were pretty much straight a-s’ and I improve in Sophomore and Junior year INTO STRAIGHT A’S, and MY SCHOOL DOES NOT SHOW CLASS RANK, Can I get into a stanford or princeton type school??

Yes, of course.

A-'s are okay, as long as your final GPA is over 3.8 preferably over 3.9.

do these schools RECALCULATE YOUR GPA?

Stop CAPITALIZING random THINGS.

If they ignore freshman year, then yes, they usually recalculate.

Sorry, usually on most forums idiots don’t read your post unless its capitalized in random places.

Haha…
