Colleges with a rising reputation

This question is well suited for some data! I took my Broadway alumni data and calculated a metric that attempts to quantify “up and comers”. This could be essentially done by comparing the fresh, young, and total numbers in my original post, but this list quantifies it.

Roughly, the numbers below represent the increase or decrease in alumni on Broadway per class over more recent years. Exactly, the number is (2grad within 5 yrs + 1grad within 5-10 yrs - 1grad within 10-15 yrs -2grad more than 20yrs ago)/(class-size).

It should be no surprise to anyone that Michigan is on a tear. MTdog had a great reply on my original thread about how the rise of Baldwin Wallace and Elon might be attributed to key faculty additions. So others could be changing as we speak due to faculty changes (among other things). Of course the data is also getting stale as we speak, but it should provide a meaningful representation of trend for at least a year or two. Finally, I would still put more emphasis on the total (normalized per class size) alumni numbers than the change (derivative) - e.g. CCM and CMU would still be more attractive on a purely statistical basis than Elon and BW. Plus the standard caveat that how much meaning this, or any data/input has is highly dependent on the individual (and at most put a small to modest weight on any statistics or outside opinions).

Where is Ailey/Ford? And which Wesleyan is that?

I was going to mention Pace University’s BFA program. It has only been a BFA for a few years now, but the program is really taking off!

dcsparent Illinois Wesleyan and Ailey/Ford refers to the Alvin Ailey Dance company which is now connected somehow Fordham (Ford) I think.

Coastal Carolina graduated their first BFA class in 2012. The BFAs who graduated in 2012 and 2013 entered under the former BA degree program. The BFA class of 2014 is the first who came in as BFAs. Use that information as you like when considering how to classify “up and coming.” On a side note, it was fun watching “Now You See Me” with my D and seeing CCU alum Michael Kelly up on the big screen!
