Most colleges say they offer it, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with eating vegan at certain colleges. Particularly (but not limited to)

Harvard
Brown
UChicago
UPenn
Duke
U of Virginia
U of N. Carolina --Chapel Hill
U of Michigan --Ann Arbor
U of Washington

Try looking at the dining hall menus on the web sites to see what is actually offered.

For those campuses where it is common for upperclass students to live off-campus, check for convenient grocery stores and restaurants with desirable vegan offerings.

UNC is very vegan-friendly. There are many vegan students and faculty/staff members, and campus dining reflects that. I’m not a vegan, but I have eaten on and off campus with a number of vegans and this is what I know.

Restaurants in Chapel Hill and Carrboro: There are many places to eat vegan, and I have eaten a number of delicious vegan meals at local restaurants.

Grocery stores: No problem here. Weaver Street Market is not that far from campus, and Whole Foods and Harris Teeter are a bus ride away. The bus service in Chapel Hill is free and extensive, so people without a car can get around well.

I feel like really any college is going to have at least some vegan options. At every college tour I’ve been on, they’ve mentioned “we have a vegan/vegetarian station…” and if you go somewhere like a large city or a classic college town, there are bound to be vegan restaurants. It’s becoming a lot more common…

I second the notion that UNC is very vegan friendly. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro has very good grocery stores and restaurants that easily provide vegan menus and foods to meet your needs.

I’ve eaten at one of the dining halls in UVA (can’t remember which one) and they had pretty limited vegetarian options, and even more limited vegan options. That being said, I’ve only eaten at UVA 2-3 times while visiting family and I’m sure an actual student could offer a better perspective.
