Hello! I’m currently in high school and looking at colleges. I want to major in nursing, so I want to attend a college that has a direct admissions nursing program, so I don’t have to apply after 2 years in the program. I’m currently looking at Seattle Pacific, UCLA, Hawai’i Pacific, University of Utah, Washington State, Montana State, and University of Montana. Does anyone know if these schools are direct or indirect admission?
You should be able to find that information easily on your own by looking at the school websites.
I found some on college websites that I didn’t mention, but these ones I could not find. I was just wondering if anyone happened to know.
UCLA is direct admit for Freshman and also takes Junior level transfers.
Thank you so much!
washington state accepts 10 direct admit nursing applicants if you get into the honors college. but the rest of the pre-nursing majors need to apply after 2 years
Thank you!!
You will need to cast a wide net and check on admit rates for nursing. At UCLA, the admit rate for nursing is 2.2%, far more selective than even engineering (12%).

Are you a California resident? You may also want to consider direct admit options in the CSU system. You can check the CSU Mentor website for more information.
You don’t have the stats for direct entry for UCLA. Plus,if you’re OOS it will be very costly.
What are your parents saying about how much they’ll pay?
I live in Oregon. Neither of my state schools have Nursing unfortunately. My parents could pay no more than about $10k per year, unfortunately.
Unless you can get substantial amount of merit aid, your choices will be limited. You can only take out a total of $27K for 4 years in student loans so focusing on a small private university with a direct admit program may be a problem.
I understand that a 2+2 program has no guarantees, but if you are a competitive student now in HS, you should be able to transfer to a Nursing program in-state far more easily and cheaper than trying to look for OOS options.
There are many CC posters than give you some ideas of schools where your HS stats may get you some good merit aid. In the meantime, take a look at this link:
You should figure out what schools are affordable first and go from there.

Please ask your parents for a definite amount. It may be higher or it may be lower. Either way, you need to know.
Oregon Health and Science University is a state Univ with BSN
Western Oregon U is also public and has BSN.
It also appears that OHSU offers BSN at some other campuses. Is that right?

Page 9 forward for BSN programs in Oregon
The first 8 pages has many RN programs at CCs.
Look at your other thread - I put in a long post. It helps to know how to see what nursing programs are in your state. Each state has a board or nursing and a web site. Included is all the approved LPN, Associate RN, BSN, NP, etc programs.

You probably are not aware of all these programs.
This is off of Oregon’s Board of Nursing web site. It lists all of Oregon’s nursing programs.
Also there is other information there for you and others to think how to attend school and how to pay.
