Colleges with fantastic language/study abroad

So I've been doing some soul searching over turkey and mashed potatoes and I've decided that what I'd really like for the next four years is to learn a bunch of new languages and spend some semesters and summers studying in Europe.

Are there any good schools that will let me pursue a few languages (at least 2-3) and spend a few (at least 2) semesters abroad? I have solid test scores and GPA.

University Of Pittsburgh

Really? I never considered Pitt. Could you elaborate on what distinguishes it's language/study abroad programs?

Middlebury has amazing language programs and although I haven't researched, I'm positive it has a great study abroad program.

don't know much about the foreign language programs but I do know that there are MANY opportunities to study abroad and that undergrads can often find study-abroad programs that are cheaper for them than their tuition would have been. When I visited Pitt, it seemed like they were placing a huge emphasis on their study abroad program and I've read great things about it.

Any other ideas?

I would say Georgetown and Middlebury

this might be kinda of the radar but an interesting fact....BYU has superb language programs
sometimes they are known as the best in the world

Umm, I think the major that youre looking for is international relations/international business. Study abroad programs are not really something that are quantified and compared. If you're looking for strong programs eg. diversity of language offerings, large number of faculty, seminal people in the field. Try searching for international relations.

Kalamazoo should be on anyone's list who is considering study abroad. Something like 90% of the students end up spending a semester abroad.

I agree with U of Pitt. Although I don't know anything about it I have 2 friends that were highly involved in language programs at high school (Governors school for foreign language, finishing their AP foreign lang. exam in 10th grade, foreign exchange etc..)and they both are going to U. of Pitt. so there must be something there that appeals to those who are interested in foreign languages...

Dartmouth. Look into LSAs.

Dickinson College in PA is known for having good study abroad programs.

Tufts and U of Chicago, also Emory, American,Georgetown,Yale,Duke,Brown..

how did this turn into international relations????
the OP said that he/she wanted to learn a bunch of new languages!!!
that sounds pretty clear to me like language not IR

Which languages do you want to study? Many schools are good with languages, but that doesn't mean any school offers all the languages you might be interested in. If European languages, most schools offer majors in French, Spanish, and German. What about Russian? If that's an area of concern, make sure you find schools which offer Russian. Boston College, for instance, is a great school. They're very strong in Russian but are not the place to go if you might want to take courses in Japanese. Most schools have good study abroad, so that's not such a big deal. Start with the languages first.
