Colleges with no supplemental essays

I know some exist. What are the academically strong schools that do not require supplemental essays or they are very short? I know Vanderbilt is one example.

Cal State schools do not require any essays for their applications.

preferably east coast and prestigious

Vanderbilt, Wesleyan, Wash U.

Don’t apply to a school just because you don’t think it will be a lot of work…

Wesleyan has a supplement.

UCONN is #1 public school in the northeast, no supplement.

But I’m not sure what kind you want.

@DJ, it’s not the work issue but rather i’m a relatively boring person and don’t want to BS a couple more essays then I already have to for uva and such

Harvard has an optional essay. fyi

Haha fair enough. Be sure to show a lot of interest, its even more important when the schools are mainly judging you through the common app essay alone. Best of luck.

haha I don’t think I’d really stand a chance for harvard and optional probably means required. how do you show interest w/o the ability to visit?

Phone interviews and emailing admissions officers, generally. As for actual visits, I know Wash U pays for a plane ticket and a cab for admitted students to visit.

I know harvard has been said already, but any other optional essay schools? I know Duke is one of them

BostonCollege

laxbrah- if the essay tio a highly selective school is “optional” I think its not really “optional”…if you don’t submit the essay, you are showing you are not motivated and you are just giving the adcom a reason to your file in the reject pile.

As much as it seems on CC that kids have all done incredible things, don’t get sucked into that. Most teenagers haven’t done anything thrilling - heck, most adults haven’t either! They want to know about you. About how you helped your grandmother when she had a broken hip, about how much you love your EC and why you love it and how it’s affected you, about why you carry a lucky rabbit’s foot… They want to see the quality of your writing and that something excites you.
