colleges with/out reasonable foreign language waiver / substitution ??

Hi folks -

If any of you / your kids have been down the foreign language waiver /
substitution road, I'd very much welcome hearing about it (either in
this forum or via PM), especially in cases where colleges which were
either particularly accommodating or particularly difficult.

I'm thinking primarily about Gen Ed / breadth requirements / graduation
requirements. (For applying, my son will have 2 years of high school
Spanish -- they'll likely be C's, but he'll have the credits.)

Thanks kindly,

Latin was recommended for our son, and it was a good fit - he did well and did four years in HS. No spoken word component, lots of patterns, and interesting Roman history readings. One semester of college Latin, and he should be finished with his foreign language requirement altogether.

That said, I’ve noticed that many/most LACs researched have procedure for obtaining a foreign language waiver altogether. It seems that a LD diagnosis report that flags specific foreign language concerns would be adequate to trigger such a waiver. But be sure to clarify first at each shortlisted college before applications are done, or at least before final commitment is made. (DS did ED, which significantly simplied applications altogether; he obtained a same small merit scholarship we anticipated from every school on shortlist.)
