Hi, this is my first post. I am looking for some Top 100 colleges that have either a rodeo or skydiving team, or both. Right now I know of Purdue and UIUC. Also, if you know of any colleges where I could be recruited for rodeo, that would be awesome too. Other criteria include:
- Greek Life
- Animal/Equine Studies Program
- Pre Vet Track
I didn’t know that was a college sport. Here’s the link to the NIRA – National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association – and the list of members (http://www.collegerodeo.com/membership/Membership.asp)
I’m not the most familiar with Midwest schools so I don’t know the prestige/quality of a whole lot of them. However, Cal Poly, Cal State Fresno, Air Force Academy, University of Arizona, University of Kentucky, University of Tennessee, and Michigan State are all good options. I know Texas A&M and Texas Tech are very good places too.
Which would you say offers the best animal/equine science programs of those you listed? (Purdue was NIRA registered just a few years back, so I hope that when I start filling out apps it is once again.) I looked into University of Arizona and Cal Poly mostly when I looked at the NIRA website a while back. However, I was kind of looking for higher-tier schools. Right now I am between Purdue, Michigan State University and Cal Poly for my top three choices.

Auburn has an award winning equine team. I don’t think they have rodeo specifically. They have a strong equine program.
Here is a video of Auburn’s mascot Aubie skydiving https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GJcq4nqJLT4
Auburn doesn’t appear to have a team, but does have an organization at the local airport that has skydiving and there is also an outdoor adventure club. The only school I know of with a skydiving team is the Air Force Academy.
I’m not sure about the relative strength of the schools; however, it looks like Cal Poly, University of Kentucky (also has equine science), Texas A&M, and Texas Tech (also has equine science option/concentration) all have great programs.
