Colleges with stong Studio Art programs

My DD is looking for a strong studio art program in either an university or LAC. High GPA and strong SAT's. East coast, west coast, midwest, no preference for location. We are just beginning "our" college search. Any suggestions?

American, BC, BU, CMU, uni of cincinnati, cornell uni, drexel, harvard, u of Mi, NYU, UNC/greensboro, UPENN, Syrcause, wash uni in st. louis, uni of washington, yale, alfred uni, bard, brown, centre, cornell college, dartmouth, furman uni, hollins uni, kenyon college, lake forest, lewis and clark, manhattanville college, mills college, randolph college, sarah lawrence, scripps, smith, southwestern uni, vassar, wheaton college (MA), willamette uni, williams
I hope this helps!

why two sets of alphabetical order?
what are the difference between those two lists? size? LAC thing? BFA/ BA thing?

I’ve heard that Stanford is pretty good. Can anyone confirm?

See other threads? Why is VCU always “forgotten” in the lists of good arts undergrad programs? Has anyone heard from a VCU grad or current student about why they chose VCU?

Thanks, that’s quite a list. Is VCU Virginia Commonwealth?

the first part of the list is larger schools, the second part smaller schools. I copied it from the PR guide, I’m sorry that if it was confusing.

oops, i meant to say I got it from the fiske guide, sorry.

You could also look at the National Association of Art and Design schools. they are a common accreditation association. From that map you can pick out Univ and LAC from a map. Come to think of it Illinois State has a top rated studio art program at a good price.

Started to tour schools and D has decided she definitely wants a small (less than 2000) LAC. Does any one have any specific info on the arts programs at Hamilton and Skidmore? Any other suggestions for a small LAC with a strong studio art program would be appreciated.

Do search on Skidmore, I know there was some chatter not too long ago.

Also the schools all have web sites with “galleries” and show both professors and students works, I know Skidmore does. It’s a good way to take a look and see if it’s what you’re looking for.

WUSTL, CMU, Brown, BU are all good programs, but larger schools than what you’re looking for.
