Hey, I'm looking for colleges with strong psychology departments, preferably in or somewhat near NYC. Could you guys recommend some?

Not near NYC, but University of Michigan has an extremely good psychology department.

its such a popular major that just about every school has a decent psych department...
tell us more about you are looking for in a school.

Columbia, NYU, SUNY Stony Brook, Barnard

How far from NYC are you willing to be?

check out Clark University in Worcester Mass. They are well known for their psych program

Clark definatly there is a statue of Sigmund Freud in the courtyard! My mom works at Clark at the psych professors are all wonderful.

I'm looking for a school that's in either the Mid-Atlantic or New England region, in an urban area, has a diverse student population, provides a good amount of financial aid, moderate size, and a wide selection of majors, just in case I decide to switch majors.

I visited Barnard once. I didn't like it very much. I don't think I can stand being in an all-female environment. Too much estrogen.

Thats exactly what Clark is! That is almost word for word what is written in their viewbook except for the whole part about Barnard

what are you stats like?

3.7 GPA. I've taken only one AP class so far and will take four during senior year. I'm in the top 25% of my class. I attend a pretty large high school; there's about 1000 students in my class. I've done about 300 hours of community service. I've been in Leadership Club for three years, National Beta Club for two years, and NHS for one year so far. I got a 2040 on the SAT, but I'm definitely going to retake it. I'm Asian. I'll be the first person in my family to go to college.

Cornell is wonderful if you can get in. StonyBrook (sp?) where you COULD get in, and maybe even get merit aid, is well known for it's psych department...

Good luck!
