Colleges Won't Receive My Best Grades

Hi Everyone,
Background:
I am a senior applying to several colleges RD for the January 1st deadline. Unfortunately, my final semester grades will not be completed until after Winter break, January 5th. However, because I took all of my finals already, I know almost certainly what my grades and GPA are, and they are better than any other semester I've had in high school. I feel this is especially important because I am taking 4 APs, my hardest schedule to date. Additionally, I had an average freshman year, and have trended upward in every semester since then, making it increasingly important, I think, to show that I had another semester in which I continued to perform better.

Question:
Should I tell the schools I am applying to roughly what my grades were this semester? If so, in what language and what medium of communication? An email to admissions?

Your HS will file your Jan grades and submit them to your target schools. You’re fine – you need to mention nothing. Congrats on your better grades.

@T26e4 Thank you for getting back to me. Just to clarify, even if Naviance says the transcripts are already submitted, they will still send this semester’s grades?

Yes – colleges want the latest update. For you, it’s the early January grades.

@T26E4‌ Much appreciated, thank you

No, they’ll receive it when your school sends in the mid year report (which you should request)

@OutBriefCandle…DD had stellar senior year grades. She contacted her college admissions reps at each of her college choices and asked her high school counselor to email her first quarter grades to her one ED and other EA schools since decisions were being made shortly and before 1st half grades would be available. DD had interviewed with most of her college reps, but all responded to her email saying they were looking forward to receiving her Q1 grades. DD never found out about her other college decisions since she was accepted to her first choice ED having withdrawn her other applications. She’s an extremely happy freshman.
Each college should have an admissions counselor assigned to your geographic location to whom you could send a nice note letting them know your interest in their college and that your high school counselor will be sending them a report in January showing your strong performance. Excellent senior year grades in rigorous courses make a difference. Good luck to you.
