Colleges?

So far I amlooking mainly at

Penn State
Purdue
MSU
Colorado -Boulder

GPA is 3.31 or a 3.7 weighted
SAT- Math -580,Cr -560 ,Writing -490
ACT-25

Point is im looking for some match or safety schools for me. Schools simlair to the ones above because I hvae fell in love with them however Penn State is well a reach school for me,basically does anyone hvae ideas at others schools I should look at?

A few questions:

Do you only want to go to public schools? All of the schools you listed are publics.

Do you need financial aid? Most public schools offer little financial aid to out-of-state students.

Which MSU are you referring to? There are many: Michigan State, Missouri State, Montana State, Mississippi State, etc.

Michigan State

I don’t think it matters public vs private. Not for me.

^ So your parents are willing to pay $50K/year for a school?

I am very luck in that yes my parents are paying for 4 years of my school.

Look at the southern schools: LSU, UMiss, Alabama, Auburn.

Penn State! Maybe if your looking for smaller schools you can consider Siena College or Mount Saint Mary’s University?

Ill check them out! However I really would like a big school as you can see. thanks though!

Maybe for bigger schools you could look into JMU, it would be a reach. But its got a very nice campus!

Yea, im looking for more of match or safety schools. Thanks ill still check JMU.

(shameless bias) Maryland would also be a reach but if you like Penn State you’d probably like Maryland as well!

Matches:
University of South Carolina
Clemson
North Carolina State
George Mason?

East Carolina might be a good low match/high safety, same with Coastal Carolina

UNC-Charlotte could be a good safety as well.

Im looking at Maryland (didnt list it tho) thinking i want to live further away then just down the road. I like those matches I will check those out for sure. Best colleges so far that some one has listed. Thanks!

Okay. For your situation:

REACH:
University of North Carolina
Penn State
University of Wisconsin

MATCH:
University of Pittsburgh
Perdue
Clemson
Rutgers
Michigan State

SAFETY
University of Missouri (Mizzou)
University of Colorado
University of South Carolina
George Mason University

Thanks, any other ideas anyone?

What do you want to study?

Are there any particular characteristics of a college that you are looking for?
-Size
-Diversity
-Liberal or conservative
-Geographic region
-Setting (urban, suburban, or rural)
-Environment (intellectual, sporty, preppy, friendly)

This will help you narrow your search.

oh Computer Engineering. I thought that was in there, sorry about that. See thats the problem some of these schools would not be as much as a reach as they are but since engineering programs are held to high standers my scores are low for the program.

I open to most schools but I’m mainly looking some where either up north or out west, basically some where usually cold. However i open to most places. I would like a big school and while i dont play to much sports at least not at a colege level i would love to be able to go to football games for example.

Okay. I think that in your case University of Minnesota would be good, and University of Wisconsin would be a good reach school. Other schools in cold environments are University of Vermont, University of New Hampshire, University of Maine, and University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Minnesota is a reach…average ACT for their college of engineering is a 30.4

Iowa State. Very inexpensive for OOS students. They use a formula to determine if you are accepted called the RAI. When you apply online, you enter your classes and grades, ACT score. They give you an admission decision within 24 hours.

U Iowa has the exact same admission requirements although they do not have a 24 hour turn around. U Iowa is also $7,000 more per year.
