Which one should I choose if I'm a freshman business major who doesn't want to just study all day, but also doesn't want to just party all day?

Collins is really only a good fit if you’re a hippie or a hipster, so go by that.

My daughter is a direct admit to Kelley and has applied to Collins LLC. I wouldn’t exactly call her a hippie but I wouldn’t describe her as preppy, either. She’s a vegetarian, extremely liberal and has been very involved in fine arts all through high school.

^ In other words…Collins LLC would be a good fit.

Yes, I think it will be a very good fit for her. :)

Goodness no…I’m not liberal. I’m more centrist leaning right.

^^ If you haven’t, make sure you look at what the Collins LLC is really like. I thought it was just more oriented around academics. I was going to live there but then I realized it’s really kind of for hippies. I would have been miserable.

Collins is absolutely fantastic for liberals and very open minded people as there are peers from all walks of life. It’s an incredibly relaxed atmosphere while still being around people who are serious about their academics. As a freshman who lived in Wright and Forest, I really wished I lived in Collins. It’s incredibly easy to meet friendly people, so networking is a breeze. There’s no real tension as you can find in other dorms. I must stress on how relaxed everything feels. I can tell you that Collins is the most sought out for dormitory, although it’s a bit different if you’re a business student as you would prefer Foster to be right by Kelley. I’ve never heard of anyone who hated being at Collins (even by my conservative friends who lived there).

Collins has the reputation of being a hippy conglomerate as much as McNutt and Briscoe having reputations of housing a huge “slutty” population. lol

I thoutht the only drawback would be the lack of AC for students couldn’t stand the heat. Is it true?

Basically. That’s really only an issue at the beginning and very end of the school year as it cools down really quickly and heats up really slowly. It’s going to be mid 50s-high 50s avg on the first week of April. Only the rooms aren’t air conditioned obviously. If you really need one though, I believe you can make a request for an window unit, but not entirely sure how that works out.

Something else that’s great about Collins is its dining hall. It’s a buffet style with a descent selection for lunch and dinner in a room that reminds you immediately of Hogwarts. The dorm in general reminds you of Hogwarts.

I think that Q-199 may be required. Is there another requirement for a 3-credits course? Can Collins residents skip these courses?

Well, I lived in the kllc freshman year. It was amazing. You have people who love to study but also love to party. As a business major you will also be living with people who are going to be taking the same classes as you which makes studying a lot easier.

My daughter is going to be a freshman living in Collins LLC. Freshmen are required to take both Q-199 and a 3 credit Collins seminar.

Sophomores are required to take the 3 credit Collins seminar.

From the info they sent my d, it doesn’t look like there are any required classes for juniors and seniors but they have the option of taking CLLC L400 where they can design their own course.

My d is planning to take both the required Collins classes this fall.
