Hello all! I'm a junior pursuing music education/piano performance and looking to apply this summer to schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Colorado. I have just done some research and would like some insight into these schools' music programs, their reputation, their selectivity, the music education programs, etc. so I can narrow down my already long list.
University of Colorado-Boulder
Colorado State University
University of Northern Colorado
Any insight? Also, how is financial aid? I'm a Texas resident, so I am rather daunted by the out-of-state tuition and scanty scholarships.
Thanks!

I don’t know specifically about music ed programs, but I did visit CU-Boulder and CSU recently. Personally, I loved Boulder. They had an entire building just for the music department with a number of stages and larger rooms for concerts/rehearsals, lots of practice rooms, a very impressive music library. I also sat in on some percussion classes, and I liked the teachers I met there.

I can’t really say too much about CSU because I didn’t see a whole lot of it. I did like the teachers I met there, though I wasn’t as much of a fan of how far the building was from dorms (a good 15 minute walk) and how they shared it with other performing arts programs.

Thanks for the reply. Keep 'em coming! Buranri, would you say that UC Boulder has the highest musical prestige of the three universities I’m looking at? Also, does anyone know about the program at UNC? I’ve heard its good for jazz, but I’m not sure about their classical training.
