Colorado residency?

<p>Hi there I have a question about claiming residency in the state of Colorado. I am completing my associates degree attheend of this semester and looking to move to Colorado this summet. I'd like to go back to school after a year of working... </p>

<p>I'm a bit confused on claiming residency. Its says if your at least 22 you can be classified as a resident after a year providing all the paper work n so on. Thing is, I turn 22 in September... So would the one year technically not begin until I turn 22 , or as long as I'm at least aged 22 when claiming residency for fall2013? Oy</p>

If your parents are not Colorado domiciliaries, you must be a qualified person to begin the one-year domiciliary period. A qualified person is someone who is either: at least 22 years old, or married, or emancipated, or a graduate student

In-state status requires domicile (legal, primary residence) in Colorado for the year immediately preceding the first day of class.

The way I read that is you have to be 22 THEN be in CO for a year before being considered a CO resident.</p>
