Colorado School of Mines vs CU Boulder for Chemical Engineering

Hello! I recently applied to these two schools because they were in-state and both offer Chemical engineering. I was just wonder which would you guys would consider better?

Looking at the ranks it says Boulder is overall better... But it seems like everyone here in Colorado says Mines is the real engineering school? Thank you!

I’ve met alums from both in ChemE. Both were very successful. My feeling is that Mines is the ‘better’ engineering program…but CU might be a better social experience, depending on your interests.

Both are probably good program. In general Mines tends to be more intense/geeky… it’s all STEM majors. That can be terrific or terrible, depending on the student.

Make sure you visit. They both used to offer “accepted student days”, with excellent programs for the families to learn more.
