As a sophomore in high school I'm starting to think about where I want to go to college. I really want to go somewhere in Colorado (Mines or Boulder or something) for engineering. The huge problem on my plate is the out of state tuition plus room/board/etc. is $40,000+ at most of these colleges. I am pretty smart and know with some prep studying I can get a good ACT score. I was wondering if any of these schools will give full rides or very big scholarships for something like a 35 or 36 ACT with a high SAT too. Specifically when I looked at School of Mines's college I couldn't find anything but maybe someone here knows?
Thanks!

Twinsrule 1, I don’t know about Boulder, but I know Mines can offer good scholarships. Without applying for anything, they just offered me a $44,000 scholarship and invited me to apply for another scholarship that is much larger (I can’t actually remember the amount because I had already decided Mines wasn’t the place for me). I didn’t submit ACT scores, but I’ve looked at comparison charts and my SAT score is equivalent to a 35 on the ACT. Good luck with your college search process!

P.S. I like your username. Twins DO rule. I’m a twin too :)

Any particular reason why you want to go to Colorado for engineering? If you want a very vibrant outdoors scene, Montana State University and U Wyoming, both offer at least decent engineering programs, and give excellent merit scholarships for lower scores than a 35 or 36.

Boulder does NOT offer good scholarships for OOS kids.

The main reason for Colorado is, like you said, some great outdoor possibilities in the mountains. The other is that I have a lot of family in CO as well. I have also considered Montana, and I’m still keeping it in mind. Thanks for the replies!
