colorblindness at usna

I know colorblindness is a DQ'ing factor in the admissions process to USNA, but I am also aware that a small percentage of applicants can get a waiver. I was wondering if anyone knows anyone or experienced first hand themself something in regards to being colorblind and getting a waiver to USNA.

I was found colorblind using the Ishihara(circle dot number test) during my initial dodmerb test, but I passed a much easier Falant(colored christmas lights) test later on and was qualified unrestricted line. I do know of several mids who were completely colorblind, and were commissioned restricted line (supply, intel, ect.) after graduation.

i failed the falant today :( and was accepted at NAPS earlier this year, pending my medical turned out fine. Besides this everything was fine so im hoping they'll waive it. I dont even see restricted line as a step down just being commisioned as an officer in the Navy is an extraordinary accomplishment.

nobody else has any experience in this area?

USNA does not, as a rule, accept candidates who are limited to RL. The USMC does allow colorblindness. The Superintendent personally wavers a few candidates, usually not until the Apr/May timeframe.

im sorry but what is RL?

From your post above, restricted line.

haha sorry a lil slow on that one
yea i contacted the admissions office and they said they do give waivers to the academy for colorblindness(amount unknown) so i can only assume they do allow these people to go restricted line, unless they make all of them go marines which doesnt seem likely
