Hello,
I’ve looked around but couldn’t find any specific ruling against this, even though my teachers have told me it’s not allowed. Can I use colored pens to mark my test booklet on AP exams (and also SAT/ACT/Subject Tests) so long as I’m not using them in my answer sheet or any Free Response sections? College Board explicitly says no colored pencils may be used, but I don’t think that would extend to pens as well.
Thanks in advance!

I see nothing specific for AP, but no reason to risk it.
Where do you see this. I don’t see anything on the “what to bring on exam day” page either way.

It seems to be silent on the topic, which one could argue allows them - especially as they’re listed as prohibited for other tests by the same organization.
But…if your teachers are telling you no, and your teachers are probably proctoring the exam, you should have a strong need for them, be prepared to contact College Board for a direct response, in advance, and share that with your teacher/Procter, also in advance.
