^Sounds like a lot of self-glorification to me. Just kidding :D. Congrats.

For me it was the opposite: only after having been accepted have I begun to realize the Columbia was the one and only for me.

My post was filled with self glorification for sure. Thing is, I don’t think a lot of kids with 3.6 averages think they can get into the ivy league. Hell, my guidance counselor told me to look at schools like Quinnipiac and Holy Cross.

yeah, but your ecs are outstanding…

Hi—just joined College Confidential after deciding I wanted to be a part of, not just a reader of, the delicious thread action. Columbia has been my top choice since I visited campus in the spring, and I am excited about applying ED in the fall. I’m planning on majoring in Drama/Theater Arts. I’m hapa. Ta-da!

I’m applying to Columbia ED for the Class of 2014. I also live in Jersey, about an hour away from NYC.

My SATs are 2310 (800M/800W/710CR), and my SAT IIs are: Math II 800, Physics 740, Literature 780

I took 3 APs my junior year and all the rest Honors, and will be taking 5 next year along with Honors Multivariable Calc.

I’m the President of Science Honors Society, VP of French Honor Society, a Project leader of Kid’s Club and have volunteered 3 hours a week for Children’s Miracle Network as well as working two jobs year-round. My GPA is a 4.4 weighted, not sure what it is unweighted, and I’m also pretty sure it went up when you factor in my GPA from my junior year. I have played guitar for 10 years and have sang my whole life, and participate in theater and musical theater.

I’m hoping to major/minor/double major in some combination of Physics, Chem, Bio, Genetics, and French… and possibly Jewish History? Not sure which of those yet (I have a lot of interests). I speak pretty decent French and fluent Polish, and can understand and read Hebrew.

I want to go to Columbia for so many reasons - the location is PERFECT (close enough to family but far enough to be independent), and I’m super-excited about the core. I was looking into Brown, but got turned off by the fact that there are no required classes. When reading this thread, I was surprised to see a lot of people who dislike the Core but still want to go to Columbia - it seems like the most fundamental part of a Columbia degree.

Anyways, good luck to everybody :)

Has everyone started working on their application? O___o

can we yet? I thought the application didn’t come out 'till the fall.

the Columbia app, not the common one

i thought Columbia doesn’t use the common app

^true.

yay i finished my essay but will revise it later.
i am excited to write the “why columbia” and the EC blurbs :)

I love Columbia but I will be applying ED to Duke or Cornell. Good luck ED-ers!

Hey guys.
I just decided that I will be applying ED to Columbia. ![]()
I have a question- do they accept november SAT scores? no right?

I love Columbia and am definitely applying early decision to SEAS!

Quick question though: is anybody else out there from the middle of nowhere and went to a public school with limited opportunities? It seems like a whole bunch of the people who post on here were bred to apply.

supernova - I am not bred to apply.

Up until TASP, I was pretty set on applying to Brown ED. Yet my factota went to Columbia, and I’m really siding with it right now. It’s about 70/30, but Columbia would definitely be a better place for me, especially since I want to major in Urban Studies and am concerned with urban issues.

So hey, everyone!

I’m sorry if I offended you elaslawek! I was just getting sorta fed up with seeing everyone posting their “chance” threads with info like “I attend a school in the Northeast that sends many students off to very selective schools. I have about 100 AP Courses. I have at least 20 extracurricular activities. I have a 2400 on my SAT.” It makes me feel like my small town upbringing puts me at a disadvantage. :(

Oh, and I’m not from the middle of nowhere, but I am from a gigantic public school with limited opportunities. I’m not posting my stats or anything here, simply to not be laughed off the face of CC. I’ll just apply and wait and see what happens, you know?

Yay for crap schools!

super - you didnt offend me. didnt even think of it in that way. no worries

me too, ED to Columbia College. I didn’t pay yet so can someone tell me the word limit for the activity response

Can someone answer my question- does columbia accept november sat scores for ed?
