Columbia 2015 hopefuls

There is no set date, but it happened on the second thursday of dec for the past two years. there is a very good chance it will be next week, either thursday or friday.

@Emeraldcollector: Being a girl won’t help you in any way. Only background and legacy helps.

@Silence1113 Being a girl going into engineering helps me somewhat because there aren’t that many girls going into the field. I just mean it gave me a good topic to write one of the short responses on :stuck_out_tongue: Not that big of a deal.

I’m 95% sure I read somewhere that the decisions for ED will be released online by December 15. I believe it was in the first year applicant instruction pdf.

^^^The line actually says:

“Mid-December
Admissions: Decisions released online to Early Decision candidates.”

[First-Year Admission | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/firstyear)

In other words, Dec. 15 is the latest day. But they will most likely release it on Dec. 9 (or 10).

^I just re-read it but you beat me to posting xD
I’m not quite sure where I heard December 15th from but I’m personally going to stick to that date.
Your logic makes perfect sense though.

I did some research on this site and elsewhere. Basically the trend in the past is for decisions to come between the 5th and 8th. Silence is right, what they are saying on the website is that Columbia HAS to have the decisions by that date, but they’ve always been finished sooner. In case my name didn’t tip y’all, I absolutely love Columbia. Oh and we should be getting an e-mail tomorrow or the next day telling us the exact date and time the decisions will be mailed out.

Correction, i checked a calender, basically its the second thursday of every december

please chance… im totally freaking out

@die4columbia So you are positive that we will be getting an email tomoro or the next day about when the decisions will come out?

@good4college Obviously I can’t say positively that we’ll get an email, but from what ive read from past years they’ve told applicants about 7 days before to expect the decisions

Oh ok. Thanks :D

Is it working for anyone ?

wow, didn’t know the kick of adrenaline would be this hard. thanx for the ups of the 2nd thursdays and emails everyone, and good luck… OOOooooo i really hope i get in!

Good luck everyone!
Let’s all sign on at 4:30 PM on December 9th to freak out together.
Sounds good?

haha

Hahaha yes although I think i might die first. Just reading past ED decision threads gets my heart beating unnaturally fast.

I agree. I’m freaking out. Hold my breath for another 8 days seems terrible. I’m the only person in my school applying to any ivy’s so nobody feels my pain!
I mean I think I have a good shot? If anybody knows (taking a shot in the dark here), I’m considered Native American and African American (my grandparents are from south america which is considered native american and my dad is dominican i.e. caribbean which is considered African American) and I’m also Latina… do they take this into account on the heavy? Every person I talk to brushes me off with eh you’ll get in on the diversity factor but… I donno!

@smile99 I FEEL YOU. I’ve been so irritable lately. It sucks.
@Andrea well your ethnic background will certainly help you! (assuming your stats are good!)

did everyone get an email about financial aid status from columbia?

I didn’t get it yet. Probably will get it tomorrow.

Yeah i think you had to indicate that you were applying for financial aid on the common app…so to rephrase that question: did everyone who said they were going to ask for financial aid on the common app, recieve a letter about their financial aid status from columbia?
