Columbia 2015 hopefuls

Let me say that…3 people from my school who applied via QuestBridge to Columbia and have higher SAT scores and GPAs got rejected.

I hate this, last year at this time all i wanted was Christmas break to come along. It’s hard to believe that people last year and next year are going to go through this exact same thing and noone will be any the wiser as to how terribly sluggish the waiting is.

if it’s any consolation i have a calculus final on monday and that’s not even on my mind lol

I am retaking the SAT IIs…just in case…this Saturday and I haven’t studied. That’s awful.

higher sat scores and gpas then what silence?

IF YOU THINK YOU WILL GET ACCEPTED
-list your SAT/ACT score
-class rank
-anything else

lol k good dealio?

@die4Colubmia: Have higher scores than me lol

@GagaFan123

I’m exempt from all my exams, which are supposed to be week after next, but not having to study is almost making the anxiety worse. I mean, there’s absolutely nothing to take my mind off of it. I just want the email telling me what day so I can get the crappy movies and ice cream ready, dang it!

I’m really glad it doesn’t seem to be the 9th, though, because that’s the day of my first Mock Trial run-through, and I’m supposed to be an attorney. I told my coach that if decisions are coming out that day, there’s no way we can do it until I know, because I won’t be able to do anything but refresh my inbox and have minor panic attacks. Ha.

@Silence

But scores aren’t everything, and neither is QuestBridge status. I know that they are both impressive, but who knows? You never know what adcoms are looking for that year. I know of three people from my school who were accepted, and more (of course) who were rejected with higher scores. One girl at my school is now attending Harvard with a 34 ACT (and she was accepted to every Ivy except for Princeton), but someone else with a 35 and fairly on-par extra-currics was rejected from Columbia and other places and is now at Wash U. Don’t ever count yourself out just because of one thing. :)

I’m still hoping for a December 9th release date. Seems logical given that the College Board says Columbia gives out financial-aid decisions on that day. And I assume they’d release financial-aid and admissions decisions simultaneously.

Thanks baldrick. Good luck for all of us!

Oh, I didn’t know fin aid came out on the 9th. I agree, then, that it’s the 9th. I guess we’ll get the email tomorrow?

UPenn kids got emailed today telling them their results come out the 10th, and they had a significantly bigger applicant pool, so maybe we’ll be emailed tomorrow. Just speculating…

Well, Questbridge in my mind is interesting. In my opinion, only literally the BEST of the BEST get accepted and VERY little people do because a full ride is a big deal, especially since there is no merit-based scholarships anymore.

My ACT is 34. (SAT was 2170; only took it once. It ****ed me off, lol. One wrong on math does NOT equal a 760. Seriously?). And my school doesn’t rank :)

Why did it censor ****ed off? That’s weird.

STOP CENSORING ME. **** IS NOT A BAD WORD. lol

P-I-S-S is apparently a bad word on here, lol.

I was a Questbridge finalist, but opted to not do the match process and go through with ED. I talked to an admissions officer when I was at Columbia for a tour, and he said it was ultimately my decision. I think I made the right choice. The match is just so insane and reserved for incredible people, and I’m not sure I make the cut.

I don’t think rank and SAT/ACT are that good of indicators, but… Rank 1/483, ACT 34, SAT 2210.

@tonerre: I too choose not to apply via QB.

@tonerre and clippers: Look at the guy that got in: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/columbia-university/1040880-official-columbia-university-questbridge-results-class-2015-a.html

anyone else think heywhyhi is fake? seems pretty intense to have basically perfect scores in everything and ask if you think you’ll get in, someone need an ego boost cause they got a 1500 or something?

ugh well i’m gonna go to bed i can’t take the stress anymore tonight lol. Later!

Man I can’t wait until we get the results… and good for the guy from questbridge, I’m sure he had something really stellar about him :)

WHY DO THE DAYS PASS BY SO SLOWLY?

@die4columbia: “someone need an ego boost cause they got a 1500 or something” LOL

Man…sometimes people’s scores make me laugh at my scores, since they seem so pathetic in comparison.

Anyways, I’m not sure…but his name is trolly…
