@womtbatlikewoah no that’s understandable, my parents want me to apply to Harvard “for fun”. But since it’s no extra essays I’m obliging, plus I’m kind of curious too.

@sd6 can’t you get around the binding agreement if the financial aid doesn’t cover your needs?

I’d be willing to bet that the appeal process isn’t that simple. Besides, I wouldn’t want to get involved in that anyway. I just want to be able to compare financial packages come April.

Also, there are specific programs (like LSM at Penn and PLME at Brown) that I would consider choosing over Columbia, so it’s not just financial reasons.

ed to cc!! i love this school so much! its the perfect environment for me!! has everything i want no financial aid either, so if i get in, im good to go!!!

What’s the character limit for the “Why Columbia”? I think it’s 2000, right? I looked around the admissions website but couldn’t find anything to confirm this.

Thanks so much kaira07! I also submitted the Common App itself last night, so now my application to Columbia is officially complete. Now I just have to worry about standardized tests and whether my recommenders will submit their forms on time…

Only one of my teachers has done the rec. I also have all the supplements except Yale left+ my commonapp essay needs a ton more work+i’m taking the SAT 2’s next month.

Columbia ED all the way! At this point, I really don’t want to go anywhere else! I’m an international who needs financial aid though, with a mediocre SAT score so -_-

------>ED to SEAS fingers and toes crossed

My SAT is avg compared to other Columbia Applicants and so are my Math Subject Tests
I got an 800 in SAT Math and 790 and 760 in Math I and II respectively.
However, I also foolishly took the history SAT subject tests which were HORRIBLE (low low 600s). How will this be considered by the admin officers? -____-

Also, I have VERY good letters of recommendation from a Math teacher and a Science research teacher as well (SEAS wants 1 from a math/science teacher)
Does this mean that I’m not well rounded enough academically? Should I get the other recommendation from a humanities teacher?
