Columbia 2015 Rejects

There is an acceptance thread and a deferral thread... but no official reject thread.

Stats? Vent? Cry? Where else are you applying? Second choices? I'll put some input in later if fellow rejects respond!

i already vented. i already cried. now its time to write my many essays. lets not stay on the columbia page and wallow in our sorrows. chins up!

Rejection here!

Applying to UPenn/Dartmouth/Cornell maybe HYP to be overly optimistic :)

Why do you think you guys got rejected

I honestly have no idea. All of my friends at school were rooting for me…great recs, an awesome interview… Where did I slip up?

I’m (tentatively) applying to Rice, Northwestern, Hopkins, Princeton, Cornell, and some state schools haha. Maybe UPenn? I’m feeling my ivy league chances dwindling here, so honestly I have no clue.

No need to fool around on the rejection. Just move one.

MusicalDreams, you did not post your stats on the ED results thread. Might I ask if you wrote about your fast food experience on your essays?

Its funny how the rejection itself changes your attitude.

Before being rejected I was like “if I don’t get into Columbia, I’ll apply to all the other Ivies!”

Now I’m feeling “ehhh why apply somewhere where I don’t have a good chance”

Anyways, anyone know any nice schools which are similar to Columbia in terms of diversity and educational philosphy (core curriclum and such)? Perhaps with good starting pay after graduation in Finance/Economics/Business …and/or an epic foreign language department?

I always felt that UChicago is similar and its made many strides socially in the last few years so its becoming a decently fun place to go to school. Dartmouth has epic foreign language (better than Columbia by far), a fantastic educational philosophy, and is a huge feeder into business. Yale is another great choice.

Last year, this girl at my school decided that Columbia was her best choice. She applied and was rejected. Later, she was waitlisted at Harvard and was accepted at Dartmouth and Yale. She is now attending Yale and loves it. My point is that Ivy League and top school admissions are very unpredictable, so you should definitely apply anyways just so see what will happen!

Wait…I thought that either you got accepted or deferred…(not rejected). How does that letter go?

ps I got deferred :frowning: but keep your hopes up guys, ivies are very unpredictable

@jamescchen

No, I did not write about my job, I actually wrote about violin for my PS.

Actually, I’ve been on application overhaul since last night. I plan to post stats…when I get around to it…which may take a while haha

I was crushed when I found out, and still am, but I truly believe that admissions this year was far worse than ever before…
