normally = no school.

I pulled an allnighter once in sophomore year--I've since vowed NEVER to put myself in a situation like that EVER AGAIN!

I usually go to sleep between 12 and 1, like most others in my school. But unlike them, I get up at 5AM and do the bulk of my homework in the morning. It's been quite a bit of work. I don't really get nightly homework; it's mostly weekly assignments or monthly assignments. I can't get away w/ not doing them; it's a huge part of my grade. So I don't get a lot of sleep, but it's mostly my fault because I procrastinate.

I hate history readings! I have to read and take notes on my txbk (by palmer and colton) and it takes me like 15 minutes to read a page. there's usually a quiz on the stuff, so I have to do it. (we go over the material in class after taking the quiz).

And what else? OH! Has anyone else ever calculated how many hours you can spend for homework on a certain weekend if all you do is eat and sleep (hw time-max 25 hours). And then you calculate all the homework you have to do that weekend, and it's more than the number of hours you have to spend?!? That's happened sooo many times.

if you have enough time to calculate that, you have plenty of time on your hands!

It only takes 5 minutes, and it gets you so much more organized! Without having calculated it, I might just take 2 hours for a reading assignment... and then realized that I spent too much time on it, and now I don't have time for all of my HW. If I calculate it beforehand, then I can try to push myself to finish in an hour and a half, for example.

Or maybe I'm just a super-organized freak... that is very possible.

hmm... good point, suburbian. i'm much more scattered with my time, and tend to do things impulsively. i guess it does save you time, but math is distasteful for me.

Yea, palmer and Colton... i really don't like that book. And yes, it does take about 15 min to read a page!! I find that it's because of his writing style.... he has paragraph-long sentences with phrases, clauses, colons, commas, and by the time you get to the end of the sentence you're like, "wait.... what was the subject of the sentence anyways??"

my school has block scheduling (so awesome) so we get regular, but very light HW, and theres ALWAYS time to do it during another class. basically classes are 80 minutes long and u get four classes per semester, then u switch. its a lot more like college, but ive still pulled several all-nighters for my AP's (thank you cafe bustello)

I am in a science based magnet program and the work is very manageable. Freshman year, I really put a lot of effort into my studies and then when sophomore year came, I didn't do much homework at all because it was not required or checked. Same thing with junior year and senior year. I did well in school simply by paying attention in class. I have maintained a part-time job all 4 years of HS and have plenty of free time. Hopefully Columbia will not be a rude awakening for me =(

rp123...SEAS or college?

opalstar - my school has the block schedule also, it's awesome

and you can always do hw in the other classes haha, but i still refuse to do it, awwwwww yeahhhh

our daily schedule is

1st block - 60 minutes
2nd block - 80 minutes
3rd block - 80 minutes
4th block - 80 minutes
5th block - 60 minutes

you have the same set of classes every other day, so on one day ur three 80 minute blocks might be economics, physics, ap spanish, and on the other day it would be something like math, ap english, latin

very good stuff

I still have to do all my research bull ****s, though I didn't won any major awards, but my teacher still kept sign me up for the regional contest, which is no help for college at all at this time...I didn't do all of my hw, just study the tests on the night before that's all...

Wow, I wish I could do nothing and end up with a 4.0......I've had to take many difficult classes that I had no interest in just because they would look good on my app (damn that calculus). Hopefully, it will pay off and I can actually take classes that I like in college.....NO MORE MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lemme get an amen for no math in '05!!!!!!!!

I like math.

NO MORE MATH!!! YEAH!

i'm totally replacing my math requirement with a science. if i hypothetically get in. then this will be the last year of math forever.

and bird, i am so sorry. couldn't you find a better subject to like? ;) haha jk.

Perhaps I would like math if I were good at it....or I would be good at it if I liked it, but seeing as I fit into neither of these categories, I stand by my first statement......

Birdofprey, I applaud you for being a fan of math
