I submitted app. #1 today and just learned that I will be able to access my ID number within 14 days which means that I might receive it after the deadline... so I am FREAKING OUT.
I have seen the Columbia application forms in paper version and I've noticed that it is very picky about word counts and all... so I was wondering if anybody could tell me the word count (or character count or whatever) for the why essay, interests (books, publications, films) list, list of what i did past two summers, and the most meaningful single activity so that I can start working on them and hopefully submit before the deadline.
Thank you and God bless you in advance to anyone who is nice enough to reply!!!

And the personal essay is 250 - 500 words (or 1 to 2 pages) and I guess the general consensus on here is that you can choose to follow either of those two limits, but the shorter the better.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you on the last point HMJ…my personal essay was 800 words or so over three pages, but I 1.5 spaced it so it fit on two, and I got in.

number of words means nothing for the essay. if you can cut it down without losing quality, cut it down. otherwise, don’t bother. i got in with around 600 words.

Mine is 750 words too, that’s why I said “general consensus on CC”, not my personal opinion or what I did! Congrats on getting in though, I hope that’s me come March!
