Columbia Arrogance?

<p>Well if that's how you choose to interpret it and accept it that's fine by me.
Because I sure don't feel like that.
And if you think I am settling for something inferior that's what you choose to believe.
I don't see Barnard as inferior, rather just something different.</p>

<p>I definitely don't think you're settling for something inferior--just that you do. ;) I'm just calling it as I see it. It seemed pretty clear, but of course, you know how you feel better than I do.</p>

<p>"A lot of my friends even confess that they are a little jealous of the way we gamed this whole college thing, but that they figured it out way too long after they'd been here." - what do you mean by that.</p>

<p>Well I don't think that I'm "settling" in any way... so much as I am CHOOSING to go to Barnard.
I could have gone to an equally better school or "better" school than Barnard (from the ones I got into) but I choose to go to Barnard.
And even though I'm still waiting for Chicago and Wesleyan's decisions, I already sent my "I will attend" postcard to Barnard the other day.
I don't think Barnard is inferior, because if I did, I definitely would not and COULD NOT go there, seeing as I'd have a hard time being at an INFERIOR place.
If you want to choose to believe that I am "settling" for Barnard then whatever.</p>

<p>Some of my junior and senior friends have admitted that they're not getting anything extra by being at Columbia (and often get worse) and are missing out on some of the good Barnard stuff. But they didn't know that's how it would be for them until they were already juniors or seniors. But I think I hang with a pretty unique group of people, so don't consider them at all representative.</p>

<p>Okay, okay, I'm just saying that's how it came off from what you were saying there. I'm sure you can see how your language may have been misleading on that front. No insult meant.</p>

<p>I don't think it matters just as long as you're happy.
And I'm very confident that I will be happy, and I will have a good time.
I'm sure there are pros and cons for both schools. And there will be things you will complain about whether you're at CC or BC.</p>

<p>Yes, I do understand that you could have inferred what you did from what I said.
But you picked out those 2 little sentences from that massive chunk I wrote and pinpointed on it.
I'm just trying to make a point that I was a Columbia rejectee but have no hard feelings about CU, and got over it, and I'm completely happy to go to BC, liking both schools.
And if you remember, I loved CU so much and was dying to get in. And even with that past, I'm fine with going to Barnard. If I wasn't able to get over it, then I would be going elsewhere.</p>
