Columbia cares enough to FedEx

I just thought it was pretty cool they spent all that money to FedEx everything. Must have cost a lot.

So does Amherst.

And Wash U FedExed things to prospective students.

lol...almost all colleges either USPS or FedEx them...

Stanford does regular mail I think. Either that, or it's just taking a mighty long time to get to Hawaii.

Please tell me,
my daughter received the fed ex yesterday but it was OPENED! we live in townhome and it may have been delivered to a neighbor. There were two large "Welcome to Columbia" and a large "Comprehesive Financing Plan" brochures and that was it.

Stanford - snail mail - had a cool word magnet enclosure she got a kick out of.

Was there anything else in there? I was thinking of contacting FED-EX. Why would it have arrived opened?

there were two envelopes just like u said...one contained the FA and one was a general folder that contained a little invitation card to campus days, a enrollment paper, and a columbia brochure

09mom - I think it would be wise to contact FedEx about it. Who knows what information might be missing, privacy breeched etc. Any opened mail is suspect.

thanks shostakovich and gianievve
looks like she rec'd what she was supposed to-i will follow up with fed ex nonetheless

lol, we're gonna end up giving them about $160,000, I think they can splurge for the fedex....

So does Amherst.

I don't think this is correct.

Really?

Because I got a FedExed package from Amherst.

Did you even apply to Amherst?

Actually, Amherst sent its earlier Regular Decision letters (March 3rd or so) by UPS -- I should know, I got one!

allureNY86 - I apologzie if I was mistaken. From skimming the Amherst forums, I was under the impression that they did not fedex decisions. My bad if I'm wrong, though you're the only person I know of with a FedEx :D Congrats!

raven001 - it's totally fine, don't worry about it. Sorry if I were rude in that previous post. But thank you, I am liking Amherst a lot more after the acceptance... it outshines Columbia for now, especially since it gave me a full ride :D. I wasn't one of the early-write ones, but one of the regular RD's. Nice though. Especially after Columbia. :)

For what it's worth, I just got my Amherst acceptance and it came Priority Mail. So we were both right :D

Hey, congrats to you too, raven! Where do you think you'll be headed?

Oh god it's a tough one. Harvard and Yale are both tempting, as are Williams and Amherst. I really need to get out there and visit, though at this point (for me), I'm thinking Williams > Amherst and Harvard > Yale.

What are you thinking?

I'm thinking Amherst = Swarthmore > Wellesley >>>>>>>>> SUNY Binghamton.

Are you coming to the Amherst accepted students day?

No, I'm not going to the accepted students day, though I may swing by randomly (possibly for an over-nighter). I want to see the campuses during their "normal" times, not when everything is dressed up to impress us :) Of course, if I lived in New York, I'd be over visited the schools like once a week :P

(I live in Arizona)

Ah, the geography factor. Yeah, it's definitely cooler to go when no one is trying to impress you and you get the real feeling.

I miss the Southwest. I lived in NM for two years.

But Swat and Amherst are picking up the tab for my transportation, and it's during spring break, so it's pretty convenient.

Looks like you have awesome choices. I personally am having a crisis over Swat vs. Amherst; hopefully it'll get resolved before May 1st and I won't vacillate afterwards.
