Columbia-CC RD Chances.

Hey. First off, i really appreciate your help in evaluating me. Im really nervous about colleges, i applied ED Princeton University and the wait is killing me. In case i don't get in, Columbia is another place that i really admire for its research and music as well. What is my likelihood of going here? Do i need to improve on anything? etc.? If there are any other good schools ("match" schools preferably) that match my interests it'd be great if you can mention them as well. Thanks!

hmm, not unique, but not a bad topic either.

....ur verbal score is a tad low....ur asian, its a toss up....i like ur music ECs though.

hey thanks for responding. yea my cr reading is lil low, but im hoping my other factors can make up for it. Im hoping my music can help me stand out, and my comm service and research too hopefully.......... is there anything else i may "lack"? thanks.

Ur all eastern- ur in . -_-;

i dont know if that may be enuf truazn lol. ur azn so u probably know that too haha. eh i dunno......... i jus hope i get into Princeton Early so i dun have to worry.

bump anyone else?

music as an EC is nothing special. those who are accepted to ivies by way of their music talent are usually so talented that they'd get in to a place like Julliard. being good at an instrument is usually a smart person thing, so it's definitely not rare to see an asian boy with good stats who's good at violin/viola/cello. bass, rare.

There was an Indian girl at my school last year which was All-Eastern. Good GPA 3.8~ 2200's SAT's. But nothing spectacular compared to the above-average (top 30%) of my school (magnet hs newsweek public elite or w.e you call it). Yea so come December, our math team coach is all excited wondering how many of his precious math-team babies are gonna get into MIT/Harvard/Pton this year early (we usually have 1-2 of each).

So long story short- this girl, by all accounts not OUTSTANDING (B in BC calc, i was in her class) with her All-Eastern Celloist got into MIT early. SHe later got into Princeton as well as well as other elite schools. Everyone was like... w-t-f she just owned a USAMO'er in the early round for MIT. So never underestimate the power of All-Eastern and truly being a beast at music. And b-t-w, if you're all-eastern, all-state, regionals etc., chances are you are somewhere close to julliard caliber.

well if she's julliard caliber then it makes sense that that was her hook and she got in.

edit: also, if she was intending to go into engineering, that also gave her a leg up.

thanks for responding guys. anyone else? thanks.
