I have looked on the Columbia site, (probably in the wrong places) and I can't find the Class of 2016 application essay questions.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

The new version of the CommonApp goes live on August 1. Before then, I don’t know where one could find the supplement questions.

But they usually don’t change much from year to year. Last year’s were:

List the books you read for pleasure in the past year
List the required readings you enjoyed most in the past year
List the print and/or electronic publications you read regularly
List the films, performances, exhibits, concerts, shows, etc. you enjoyed most in the past year
Please tell us what you find most appealing about Columbia and why
For applicants to The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, please tell us what attracts you specifically to the study of engineering

The first four were around 600 characters and the last two were 1500.

They never change, though the character length of the answers basically doubled when Columbia switched to the CommonApp. The app also asks you how you spent the past two summers.

At least as of the most recent version of the Columbia supplement, there was nothing about how we spent the last two summers.

Oh gosh…i really hope they don’t ask what we did with our last two summers.

I wasn’t able to do any summer programs because they were all really expensive. I spent all of August at volleyball practices and did volunteer work and visited some historical sites on the east coast because i love history and they were within driving distance. Compared to my friends who went on service trips to India and took summer classes at Brown i don’t think that will come across well. How do i address this?

Interesting. It’s possible they cut those two questions when they transferred to the Common App.

@iteotwawki So there are a total of six supplement questions we have to answer, or do we answer just one 600 word supplement and one 1500 word supplement? I apologize if this might seem like an absurd question, but I googled to no avail. :(

There are 6 supplement questions. The first four (which should be answered in list form) are restricted to 600 CHARACTERS, while the last two (which are mini-essays) are restricted to 1500 characters. To give you an idea of the length, this post is 264 characters.

Ah, that sounds far more reasonable. A Freudian slip on my part. >_>
